Vabati VaJehova heals old wounds

musicHARARE - The pioneer apostolic choral group Vabati VaJehova has decided to heal old wounds by opening a new chapter in their religious life following the release of their latest offering titled Denga Idzva (New heaven).

The seven-track album features songs such as Muponesu Jesu (Jesus in the saviour), title track Denga Idzva and Tsitsi Dzenyu (Your mercy) among the most notable ones.

The groups leader Richard Magaya confided that Denga Idzva marks a new beginning to the surviving eight members of the choral ensemble.

Just as the name predicts, Denga Idzva means that we are turning a new leaf after all the unfortunate experiences that we encountered, said a hopeful Magaya.

Vabati VaJehova was on the verge of collapsing after two of its members, Wiseman and Timothy Magaya, died in 2007 and 2009 respectively. One of its founding members, Samson Tavengwa, deserted the group in search of greener pastures.

However, Magaya clarified that there is no bad blood between him and his former band member – Tavengwa – who left the group at the 11th hour.

We hold nothing against Samson. He felt that he had grown enough to stand on his own feet and all we could do is respected his wishes. As for us (Vabati VaJehova) we have managed to move on. As you can see we are still standing.

Magaya also pointed out that nothing was going to stop the group from carrying out its religious obligations.

We will never stop, he said adding that: By end of June we will be releasing a DVD album, which including videos from our previous album.
