Following its Annual General Meeting held on Friday 10 June 2011, the VMCZ membership and stakeholders have elected a new Chairperson for its Board, Mr. Alec MuchadehamaThe new Deputy Chair is Mr. Bornwell Chakaodza. Mr Chakaodza is a veteran journalist with vast epxereince in the media after having been the Editor of the Herald and the Standard newspapers.
The list of newly elected and re-elected board members is as follows:
Chairman: Mr. Alec Muchadehama (Public Representative-Human Rights Lawyer)
Deputy Chairman: Mr Bornwell Chakaodza (Former Editor, the Herald and The Standard)
Media Representatives: Mr Chris Chinaka, Mrs. Edna Machirori, Mr. Tapfuma Machakaire, Mr. Tawanda Majoni;
Public Representatives: Bishop S Bakare; Retired Justice Smith, Advocate Choice Damisa (Mrs) (Department of Public Law, University of Zimbabwe) Fr. Oscar Wermter, Mrs Precious Chakasikwa (Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights); One Artist (Board to decide between Mr. Cont Mhlanga, Mr Walter Muparutsa and Mr. Daves Guzha); A representative of Business is to be confirmed.
