Biti refused to sign and told the rowdy youths he would not be forced by anyone to sign their petition.

The unemployed youths sang and danced outside his office while holding placards which read:" Biti where is our money" and "two million Zimbabweans have called for the removal of sanctions." There were no policemen in sight.

The youths wore brand-new t-shirts with the words "remove sanctions now" and "anti-sanctions trust" emblazoned across the front and back. Their posters had obviously been commercially printed.
