The accident happened on Paul Kruger Drive in Wilgeheuwel, Roodepoort.
The Zimbabwean woman is now fighting for her life at Leratong Hospital. Her condition is critical due to head injuries.
Speaking to the Zimbabwean police spokeswoman Edna Mmanonyane said the cause of the accident is still unknown and that they haven't yet traced the family of the injured woman as she could not talk.
"At the moment we only have the driver's side of story. He said the woman was not looking when the accident happened. By law, a driver is supposed to slow down for a pedestrian."
"I don't know how Proverb got hold of the woman's family or relatives as we still trying to locate them," she added.
A shocked Proverb is very devastated towards the accident.
"There was a pedestrian on the side of the road. Unfortunately, she was only looking the opposite direction. As I got closer to her, she took a step into the road. I hit the brakes and tried to swerve away.
Unfortunately I was too close and collided with her," he said.
He added, "I am giving the family and the woman's employer my full support. I stayed with her on the scene to make sure she received medical attention and I went to the hospital as soon as possible to check oh her. I can confirm that she has no broken bones. I am waiting for further details about her head injury."
If the woman dies Proverb will face charges of reckless and negligent driving, as well as culpable homicide.
He is currently a presenter on Highveld Radio and idols presenter on M-Net.
