The four Zivanai Muzorodzi, Gamuchirai Mukura, Arnold Batirai and Brighton Ramusi were arrested on Friday the 22nd of July and were in custody until today when they appeared in court. The students were released on free bail and have been remanded to the 8th of August.
The students Solidarity Trust continues to advocate for the respect of academic rights as they are an epitome of a democratic society. The state should divert its scarce resources from persecutions and prosecutions of students to provision of a world-class education system Zimbabwe was once revered for.
Standards in many state institutions lie in ruins or are in an appalling state due to neglect. It is socially unjust and ironic for the state to continuously victimise students who are calling the state’s attention to a plunge in standards and run-down facilities.
