Both foreign and local exhibitors applauded the organisers of the event, Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Company for organising a bigger and better event.

According to the company chairman, Bekithemba Nkomo, this year’s edition recorded the highest number of potential exhibitors – with an almost 88 percent increase from last year.

“I have attended Mine Entra expos for the past five years but I can assure you this year’s event has been well managed in terms of logistics, the quality of exhibition as well as the number of foreign exhibitors and buyers,” said Albert Grahams, the general manager of Niconand gold mine in Gwanda.

Grahams said his company was expecting to clinch a lot of business deals during the event, which ended on Friday.

Von Sonstigen, a communication officer with a German company exhibiting underground mining equipment, described this year’s Mine Entra as indicator of the current performance of the country’s engineering, mining and transport sectors.

“From what we have seen here there is a big market for our products in the country. We specialise in the manufacture of underground rolling stock to heavy engineering, pumps, water tools and power generation equipment. We hope to clinch serious business deals with local mining companies” said Sonstigen.

Patrobes Mugadza, Sales and Administration manager of Chaferfly Engineering, a Bulawayo-based company specialising in the manufacture of mining equipment such as coco pans and skips, said this year’s event was better organised.

“We have received lots of inquiries about our products,” said Mugadza.

A total of 200 local exhibitors and 53 foreign exhibitors with 14 direct and 39 indirect foreign exhibitors mainly from South Africa participated at this the exhibition.
