The accused pleaded guilty to the charges but said that he committed the offence on instruction from a traditional healer who told him it would cleanse him of evil spirits.
Prosecutor Johannes Tlou told the court that in 2009, Sithole abused the minor when her mother was at the local hospital collecting her medication.
