Mandaza had high hopes when he joined the Rustenburg-based Dikwena last year from Botswana’s Township Rollers, where he had spent the previous season scoring for fun.
He rattled the net 42 times in 33 games in all competitions in Botswana’s Premier Soccer League in his last season, but has apparently found the going tough in the ABSA Premiership, despite scoring on debut for Dikwena in a game against Amazulu last September.
Stars coach, Owen da Gama said he was not happy with the former red-hot striker’s contribution to the team, adding that Mandaza could be released from his contract before the start of the 2011/12 season, which begins next month.
“He needs to do better than he is doing currently and while we have not yet sent him out, I cannot guarantee that he is not going anywhere because anything can still happen before the start of the season,” said Da Gama.
This is not the first time that Stars have shown dissatisfaction with the striker, who got his first national team call-up ahead of an international friendly against Mozambique last November.
Speculation was rife that he could be off-loaded in the mid-season transfer window last year, but the club gave him a stay of execution at the last minute.
