Dudu is accompanied by her band Colour Blu and is expected to stage 16 performances in 14 different towns.

The tour was made possible by the support of the Italian Embassy, Ethiopian Airways and the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe.

In an interview before she left the country last Wednesday, Dudu said: “We will perform at various jazz concerts. We will also feature at eight major festivals such as the Nonsole Jazz Festival in Trento and the Locomotive Jazz Festival in Lecce.”

The group will collaborate with top Italian artists Paolo Frezu (leading Italian jazz trumpeter), Max De Aloe (harmonica), Gino Paoli (composer and musician), Paolo Conte (jazz composer and musician) and top saxophone player Rafael Casarano.

"I am very humbled by the fact that I was recognized by some artists who have believed in me. It is overwhelming that I have been put on the international map,” she said.

"I am physically and emotionally ready for the experience. It is an opportunity to grow and see how far I can stretch myself artistically when we perform collaborations with international jazz artistes," added Dudu.

The group is expected to launch their fourth album titled Ngangiwe during the tour.
