The donation comes courtesy of the MP for Marondera East, Tracy Mutinhiri, as part of the $38,000 Constituency Development Fund.
“I have come to fulfil my promise regarding provision of standard school furniture here,” she said. “My heart bleeds to learn that children were using bricks as school furniture. Another consignment of furniture will be sent soon, until all classes are adequately furnished.”
The furniture has a three-seat metal and wood desk attached to a bench of the same seating capacity. The pupils were thrilled with the new facilities.
“I would enjoy my class work following the furniture donation and hope to pass final grade seven examinations,” said Silence Sanyangare.
Part of the funds allocated Mutinhiri were used to renovate and equip clinics and school. She also provided seed chickens to households as a source of income generation among other viable community based projects.
Government allocated $38 000 to each Member of Parliament under the constituency development fund. Mutinhiri urged people across the political divide to embrace the Global Political Agreement, which merged the country’s three main political parties into the inclusive government.
“Remember the CDF, relative peace and economic development currently enjoyed by the country is as a result of the inclusive government,” she said.
