Acrowise entertainment said next year they will embark on a massive campaign to attract more contestants from all corners of the country.
The contest, which is supported by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, made headlines following its inception three years ago. The unique contest has the potential to become one of the biggest competitions in the country.
Lovemore Chonzi, the brains behind Mr Ugly, said, “This year we realized that most of our contestants were from Beitbridge, and surroundings areas like Chiredzi, Bulawayo, and Masvingo. We are devising ways of expanding the contest. We want all areas of the country to be a part of it.”
Meanwhile, Austin Mbewe (30) of Bulawayo was crowned Mr Ugly 2011 shrugging off stiff competition from nine other eager contestants.
First runner up was Kudakwashe Chiramba of Beitbridge while Chitova Chezhira (39) of Masvingo was voted the second runners up.
Mbewe walked away with R1 500 and a goat while his first and second runners up pocketed R800 and a shovel and R500 and a blanket respectively. Mr Personalities also got a blanket and R250.
