SOAZ president, Emmanuel Fundira, said there was a need for players in the industry to be exempt from paying import duty for luxury vehicles as they were part of their business fleet.

“Since the amendment of SI 60 and SI 46 in 2009 we have not been able to afford to import certain makes of cars as they were excluded from duty free vehicles. Legislation allows for free import of pick up trucks, but we need luxury cars to transport our customers from the airports,” he said.
