The couple has been jointly staging shows around the country to popularize their second album together.
In an interview with Showbiz on Sunday Tendai, the son of the legendary superstar Zex Manatsa, said they have expanded the size of the band to give a more polished act.
“We are going to be doing a lot of shows promoting our album. We are also going to bring much bigger names during our promotional shows. At the moment, we are still working on logistics,” said the dreadlocked singer.
The 14-track album was launched on June 23. The project was initially recorded live at the 7 Arts Theatre during their performance on Valentine’s Day. The live recording included an audio and visual album, the former directed by Exclaim Media and the latter produced by Tukumusic.
It is a fusion of new songs composed by the two lovebirds and those done by their iconic parents in a modern version to appeal to the new generation.
Tracks include Zinyanga, Svovi Yangu, Chipo Chiroorwa, Nzungu, Kudzoka Kwababa, Ziwere, Asina Mumwe, Chiro, Tii Hobvu, Ndezva Mwari, Handiende, Gona, Chivaraidze, and Mutserendende.
“This is our second album together. We decided to record this live album, which features some of our parents’ hit songs, after being charmed by the overwhelming response from the crowd whenever we performed them.
“We have also blended the songs with a modern version to appeal to the new generation. These are the songs that we grew up listening to. We can’t run away from that crucial part of our early childhood so we decided to carry on the baton,” said Tendai.
