Five Masvingo students, Zivanai Muzorodzi,Anorld Batirai, Gamuchirai Mukura,Godfrey Kurauone and Brighton Ramusi appeared before a Masvingo magistrate yesterday Monday the 11th of July facing charges of malicious damage to property and assault following a demonstration against the barring of students who had not paid fees from writing exams in October last year.

The Trial failed to take-off again today and was postponed to July 14 because the state had not finished reading the lawyer’s letter of discharge.

On the 29th of June which was the initial trial date, the case was postponed to the 11th of July because the state had asked the lawyer to write a letter of discharge

The Student solidarity Trust Is shocked at the casual approach taken by state prosecutors in cases involving students. State prosecutors continue to put hurdles in the way of speedy resolution of cases and this is disruptive to students whose primary aim at any institution is to attain a qualification.

Cases continue to drag unnecessarily prejudicing students of valuable time they could be in schools. The Students Solidarity Trust appeals to the relevant authorities to intervene to facilitate a conducive learning environment for all students in the country.
