The congress, to be held on September 9 at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Bulawayo, would, among other issues, discuss the state of the sport in Africa and elect new members of the AfHF executive board.
The Federation comprises the national associations of Botswana, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Libya, Malawi, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Seychelles, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The congress would take place on the sidelines of the second African
Olympic Qualifier tournament to be held in Bulawayo from September 2-11.
The Hockey Association of Zimbabwe, with assistance from the government, is presently rehabilitating Khumalo Hockey Stadium ahead of the tournament used to choose Africa’s representatives to the 2012 London Olympics.
The refurbishment has involved replacing the old turf with a modern, state-of-the-art and environmentally friendly one.
Khumalo Hockey Stadium was built in 1994 to host the Africa Games in 1995.
