This year’s edition of the annual MTN8 will see no less than four Zimbabwean national team players square up against each other.

The draw, conducted at the MTN headquarters in Johannesburg this week, pitted Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits in the toast of the tournament.

Chiefs have on their books the Zimbabwean trio of Jimmy Jambo, Tinashe Nengomasha and Thomas Sweswe while Bidvest Wits have first choice Warriors keeper, Energy Murambadoro.

Knowledge Musona, whose move to the German Premiership has been on and off, could still play a role for Chiefs in the tournament that kicks off next week.

Meanwhile, MTN South Africa and the Premier Soccer League (PSL) this week launched the MTN8, dubbed Wafa Wafa, for the 2011/12 season.

The top eight teams from last season commence the battle to claim the R8 million – winner takes all prize – on the weekend of 5 August 2011.

Organizers forecasted an exciting tournament.

“The MTN8 Tournament sets the scene for the 2011/2012 season,” said acting PSL CEO, Professor Ronnie Schloss.
