Plumtree Town Council town secretary, Davis Dumezweni Luthe, confirmed the development.

“We received an allocation of US$48 000 from ZINARA, which has been used for road rehabilitation programmes in the town. Part of the money was used to rehabilitate the central road between Allen Redfern Primary School and the main Library, whereas the other was used to maintain part of the Bulawayo – Plumtree Border Post highway.”

He said, however, that the injection from ZINARA inadequate to cover all the roads.

“We had to use US$39 000 from our coffers to sustain the whole project," said Luthe, adding that the Roadway Zimbabwe Bank also gave US$50 000 to Plumtree Town council for routine maintenance.
