Bomb blast in Lagos

LAGOS - Up to 10 people are thought to have been killed in a bomb blast at the UN offices in the Nigerian capital.

Witnesses have confirmed an entire wing was demolished by the bomb, with several bystanders saying they saw a car ram into the side of the building. “I saw scattered bodies” and “Many people are dead” say eyewitnesses.

In June, the radical Muslim sect of Boko Haram carried out a bombing at Nigeria’s federal police headquarters, killing two people. Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan has pledged to work with neighbouring Niger to fight Islamic extremism in the region.
