Adam Ndlovu, owner of A K Ndlovu Bus Company, claims officers stormed his house in Khumalo, shot him and locked his children, workers and his naked wife in the bathroom.
He has engaged lawyers from Cheda and Partners Legal practitioners to instigate legal action.
Contacted for comment, his lawyer Mlamuli Ncube said court papers were being drafted, demanding compensation following the damages to Ndlovu’s property.
He said it was a serious matter. “Our client suffered the destruction of property and torture at the hands of the law enforcement agents. Police officers cannot take the law unto themselves.”
Ncube will allege in court that about 10 officers investigated the robbery of a phone in his gardener’s possession in the middle of the night.
“They did not identify themselves as police officers, but they forcibly entered the yard while heavily armed and stormed the house by force,” Ncube said.
“Can you imagine our client’s wife was heaped together with the children and other workers in the bathroom naked? This is a serious case of breach of privacy that cannot be expected from members of the police force whose mandate is to protect citizens rather than to harm them.”
CID acting spokesperson Detective Assistant Inspector Portia Chinho could not confirm the incident.
