MDC-SA provincial chairman, Kwanele Moyo, made this call as he kicked-off a rigorous membership drive for his party.
Moyo, the party’s SA provincial secretary, Nhamo Chikowore, and organizing secretary, Samuel Mavhunga, kick-started the drive with a tour of Brits – a small town in the Northwest province, where they addressed about 700 party supporters.
Moyo, who also handed out MDC membership forms to hundreds of prospective members, encouraged the MDC supporters not to tire, but to double their efforts in the struggle, which he says was nearing its fruitful completion.
“We cannot continue living as second-class citizens in foreign lands when we have a beautiful country that is crying out for our attention and the time for us to ensure that the struggle is won is now,” said Moyo.
“The time has come for us to reclaim our Zimbabwe from a brutal regime that has continued to milk it dry of its natural resources. However, we cannot win this struggle if some of those who fled political injustices and brutality take a back seat. We need to come together and fight as a united front in order to achieve our goals.”
Moyo called on all MDC supporters to get involved in spreading the mood to their neighbours, who they should encourage to register and participate in the country’s next elections, which are set to decide Zimbabwe’s destiny.
“The MDC, as Zimbabwe’s biggest party, must lead the struggle for democracy and that is part of this programme,” he added.
