“We must not preach hate language to our supporters. I’m horrified at the way Zanu (PF) politicians have been using hate speech to smear our party. I strongly denounce the use of such cheap politicking,” said Chitaka.
“As MDC-T, we do not tolerate that culture. We want people to judge us by both our actions and what we say. If you look at the beginning of our democratic movement, none of our members ever boasted of having a certificate, diploma or degree in violence,” he added.
Chitaka also castigated Zanu (PF)’s habit of abusing state instruments to gain political mileage, saying the party continued to exploit the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation as its propaganda mouthpiece.
According to a report conducted by the Media Monitoring Project of Zimbabwe, ZBC continues to flout Article 19.1(d) of the GPA, which recognizes all three parties to the inclusive government to be equal partners that deserve “balanced and fair coverage for their legitimate political activities.”
