I believe in this team – Masomere

Nomadic new Shabanie Mine FC gaffer, Luke Masomere, says he still believes in the team despite crashing out of the BancABC Sup8r Cup. Shabanie lost 0-1 to Highlanders in a semi-final match played at Barboufields stadium on Saturday.

Masomere, previously with Masvingo FC, took over mentorship of the Chinda Boys following the dismissal of unimpressive coach Arnold Jani last week.

The Highlanders match was his second outing. His first game was a PSL tie against unpredictable Harare side Shooting Stars which ended in a draw.

In an interview with The Zimbabwean he said: “I have trust of building up this team. I have seen great talent among the players and the recent loss has not made me depressed at all.”

It is the presence of Zimbabwe’s international defence stalwart, Zvenyika Makonese, in the Shabanie camp that the coach will ever bank on.

Makonese, who plied his trade in South Africa before re-joining his home town team, is expected to turn around Shabanie’s fortunes. Currently the team, which made a PSL return this season, is yet to find a winning formula to move out of the murky waters of relegation.
