MDC-T will unite to fight Zanu – Gweshe

MDC-T Mashonaland East Districts will team up and fight Zanu (PF) as a united family in the coming election, the incoming Provincial National Representative, Silas Gweshe, said.

Gweshe who resoundingly beat the outgoing Provincial National Representative, Masimba Ruzvidzo, at polls held at Harvest House last Thursday, said: "My main task would be to facilitate a smooth working relationship between the Provincial Executive and District structures.

I would also work towards unity and solidarity among party district executives. This time around Zanu (PF) will have no breathing space as possible party infiltration loopholes will be sealed through MDC-T unity of purpose," Gweshe told The Zimbabwean in a telephone interview.

Mugabe and Zanu (PF) polled their highest votes in Mashonaland East districts such as Uzumba-Marambapfungwe.

Gweshe who was the former Party Provincial Secretary for Information and Publicity, polled 149 votes against the aging Ruzvidzo's 90.

Observers said the elections were free and fair and underscored quality democracy within MDC-T. Ruzvidzo could not be reached for comment as his mobile was not reachable.
