Over the last 10 years, Zimbabwe has been inflicted by high levels of unemployment. The main cause of this unemployment has been the disinvestment of companies due to the ruinous policies of Zanu (PF).
“It is clear that such irresponsible statements by people like Mudenge will exacerbate the capital flight from Zimbabwe,” reads the statement.
“Since it joined the inclusive government, the MDC through its leaders and ministers in government have worked hard to resuscitate the Zimbabwean economy and instil international investor confidence in Zimbabwe. The populist behaviour of Saviour Kasukuwere and the reckless statements by Mudenge are a sadistic and deliberate attempt to undermine these efforts.
The statement went on to label Zanu (PF)’s position as detrimental to the future of the country.
As the Higher Education minister, Mudenge was urged to focus more on the welfare of the students in Zimbabwe. Most students are living in abject poverty and are failing to pay their fees or even feed themselves. Instead of inciting them into lawlessness, the MDC believes that Mudenge must concentrate on assisting these young Zimbabweans.
