Musona (21), already described as “astonishing” by Hoffenheim’s sports director, Ernst Tanner, said this week that he was looking forward to the new challenge.
“It is a great achievement for me and my country to be playing at that level,” said the flyer.
“I want to settle quicker in the team. The training will not be a problem as they use the same training methods we use at Kaizer Chiefs. There are also a couple of Africans in the club, which is a great. While I was there all the guys were happy with me. Now I need to work hard and repay the club for the faith they have shown in me.”
Musona also believes that the time he has spent in South Africa playing for ABSA Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs has helped improve his game.
“I have developed tremendously as a player and I would like to thank the Coach (Vladimir Vermezovic) including the rest of the Technical Team for their contribution in my development as a player. I am the first to admit that technically I still need to improve. This is one aspect of the game that you will always work on as a player. I want to finish better and I want a better first touch…the technique has to be better.”
Meanwhile Vermezovic believes that Musona will make it in Europe.
“I have always said that Musona’s future is in Europe. I never doubted his ability from day one with us. We had to be careful in his first season as he needed time to settle in South Africa,” said the Serb on the Kaizer Chief website.
“He is my boy, more like a son to me. I am confident that in the next couple of months we will hear good things about him in Germany. I wish him all the best.
Another clean bill of health came from Chiefs’ goalkeeper coach Rainer Dinkelacker, who believes that Musona will not take time to settle in Germany.
“Germany will be different to what South Africa is, the language, the weather, and the people everything will be different but listening to Ernst Tanner Knowledge will be taken care off,” he said
