Speaking at a press conference Tuesday the assembly's Vice President Costa Machingauta said that the MDC YA which met as a council last week on Saturday resolved that, "all political prisoners currently in detention and or bail pending trial be immediately and unconditionally released."
"We are going to engage the Ministry of Justice and also talk directly with the Attorney General office, and also the Organ of National Healing and Reconciliation and make them see that the laws are not be applied fairly.
"Our people are being arrested when there are not guilty, but those who murdered MDC supporters in 2008 are walking scot free," said Machingauta.
Police who have been accused by the MDC and civil society of being pro-Zanu PF arrested in June activists of the MDC the most popular party in the country for the alleged murder of a policeman in Glen View.
Even though the police have no prima facie evidence that the cop was murdered by MDC-T activists many were picked up and subsequently tortured in prison.
Out of the 24 activists who were arrested over the death of the officer, 17 have been granted bail while seven are still being held after the High court dined them bail for the second time.
"Zanu PF thugs who killed in 2008 are free; those who disrupted Parliament recently are also walking free. Chihuri before he is fired should first make sure that such people are arrested and if the AG office fails to bring to book Zanu PF activists who have blood on there hands then he too should resign at least to save face," said Machingauta.
