The president of the Zimbabwean Softball Association, Stonard Mapfumo, said the sport was growing and senior club league softball had been revived in the provinces.
This weekend an under-19 Girls Inter Provincial Championship is taking place in Highfield at Kuwangira Primary School. Five provinces – Harare, Bulawayo, Manicaland, Midlands and Mashonaland West will have teams battling for honours.
The girls in the national team that is bound for the World Cup will be playing for their provincial teams – proving why they have been chosen for the national duty.
The women’s world championship kicks off early in December.
