
At last week’s SADC summit, Zuma was became the new chairman of the Troika and was endorsed by regional leaders to continue in his role as facilitator.
At the conclusion of the summit, Zuma told journalists time was fast running out, and there had been little progress in poll preparations.
"They are running out of time. They cannot perpetually have a unity government. They must hold elections, but they must prepare for them," he said.
In recent months, Zuma has taken an increasingly tough line against, Mugabe. In Luanda he said he would meet both Mugabe and Tsvangirai soon to inject a sense of urgency in a bid to end the political logjam.
SADC leaders have slammed Zanu (PF)'s widespread use of violence to achieve political objectives in Zimbabwe.
