The pageant will be held on October 15 under the theme "Beauty and Brains".
In an interview with Showbiz, Katherine Sukuta, one of the organisers of the event said: “Preparations are already at an advanced stage and some of the models are already rehearsing. The pageant seeks to give platform to academics to show that they can do more than just study."
More than 12 models have confirmed their participation.
“What is left is for us is to audition the contestants in other tertiary institutions so that we can have more models taking part," she said.
The granddad of Zimbabwean music, Oliver Mtukudzi, will entertain the crowd while rhumba music find of the year Energy Mutodi will also showcase his rhumba dancing skills.
Said Sakuta: “I want to promise the audience a very good show. I would like also to urge this year's winner to be a role model for future winners.”
The winners of the pageant will win various prizes, which include scholarships and a chance to represent Zimbabwe in the Miss Universities Africa.
They will donate money and goodies to various orphanages as a sign of social responsibility. “This will also be an opportunity to market the country in conjunction with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority,” added Sakuta.
