The 16–bedroom development which is located along Twelfth Avenue, opposite the Bulawayo Polytechnic, will double as both a public hotel as well as an on-the-job –training institution for students.
The project was funded by the Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund. Speaking at the official opening of the hotel last week, School of Tourism management board member, Eli Mtetwa, urged the Bulawayo community to support the hotel.
“People of Bulawayo let us support this new hotel. Don’t let it become a white elephant like what has happened to other projects in the city,” said Mtetwa.
Construction of the hotel school started in 2004 and the initial target for its completion was March 31, 2004. The project, however, took six years to complete due to the economic crisis.
