Chiweshe, known for his sermons that are played in public transport in Zimbabwe, died of a kidney ailment on his way to Parirenyatwa Hospital. He was said to have collapsed at his Concession home. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival, a family spokesman said.
An Apostolic Faith Mission theologian, Chiweshe was a talented evangelist who took complex theology and explained it in a way lay people could understand. One of his most famous taped sermons, "Baba vebenzi", has influenced millions of Christians.
He has groomed top evangelists in Zimbabwe, including Reverend Oliver Chipunza, the president of the Inter Denominational School of Deliverance, and Reverend Emmanuel Makandiwa of the United Family International.
He is survived by his wife Tabeth and three children.
