God’s discipline

God is determined to make the disciple of Christ (us) pure and holy and right. He will not allow us to escape for one moment from the scrutiny of the Holy Spirit. He urges us to come to judgment right away when He convicts us. If we do not the inevitable process begins to work and we are now in prison, and we will only get out when we have paid the last penny.

“Is this a God of mercy, and of love?” we ask.

Seen from God’s side, it is a glorious ministry of love. God is going to bring us out pure and spotless and undefiled, but He wants us to recognise the disposition we were showing. It was the disposition of our right to ourselves. The moment we are willing that God should alter our disposition, His re-creating forces will begin to work. The moment we realize God’s purpose, which is to get us rightly related to Himself and then to our fellow men, He will tax the last limit of the universe to help us take the right road. Decide it now, “I will do what He directs.”

The messages of Jesus Christ are for the will and the conscience, not the head. If we dispute the Sermon on the Mount with our head, we will blunt the appeal to our heart. Once we choose His way, the Holy Spirit is freed to help us.

Are you wondering why you are not going on with God? Choose now to do what he has shown you.
