In an exclusive interview with The Zimbabwean Mpofu said he had spelled this out to the European Union's managing director for Africa, Nicholas Westcott, in a recent meeting.
This contradicts Westcott’s statement that the two had held fruitful discussions and there was likelihood of convergence on the contentious issues at a later stage.
Mpofu continued to parrot the Zanu (PF) line that the rights violations were "fabrications" by the media and the West.
"They (EU) still want to supervise our diamond industry but we will not accept that. We've said that Zimbabwe should not be treated differently from other countries," Mpofu said.
Westcott had stressed the importance of maintaining the KP as a guarantee of a transparent and reliable framework for the international trade in diamonds.
Mpofu said there was no need for any further dialogue on Zimbabwe's diamonds after the KP chairman, Mathieu Yamba from DRC made a decision on June 23 this year to allow exports – but the KP itself is still wrangling about this unilateral decision.
