Nomadic Shabanie Mine FC gaffer Luke Masomere says the team’s ouster from the $1 million Mbada Cup was due to the incompetence of players.

The Chinda Boys were beaten 4-0 by PSL debutants Blue Ribbon in a rather dull match at Ascot Stadium on Sunday.

Speaking to after the match, Masomere said his charges lacked experience and failed to convert chances into goals.

“We lacked quality players during the match. There were a lot of chances created but we just could not convert them into goals,” he said.

“To our fans, I say I am very sorry. I understand their feelings over the loss and they are justified to be angry with the team. The result is a challenge especially to me,” he added.

In the past Masomere stated that Shabanie’s aim this season was not to compete for PSL championship but rather fight relegation.

The team is yet to move from the danger zone and the loss to Blue Ribbon is likely to further dampen the much needed morale of supporters.
