Mutinhiri was suspended from Zanu (PF) last month for calling President Mugabe "too old" and being aligned to the MDC. Parliament had allowed her to continue attending legislative sessions, including the recent official opening, saying they had not received any official communication. However, Mutasa says she must stop going to parliament.
"Parliament should not wait to be told what to do. Parliament rules are clear on the issue. It is even there in the Constitution," Mutasa said. "In any case, I will write to them.”
Mutasa's move is a death knell for Mutinhiri's political career, amid reports that Zanu (PF) was also moving to sack her from her deputy ministerial post. She also stands to lose her farm.
Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai's MDC has said she is free to join their party.
