Saadi is on the run and believed to be seeking refuge in Niger. One of his bodyguards recently revealed that he recently spent thousands of pounds on drugs and prostitutes while living in a multi-million-pound London mansion.
Earlier this year, Saadi was invited to visit Zimbabwe by Mzembi through his “celebrity host programme” – orchestrated to convince enemies of President Mugabe’s maladministration that Zimbabwe is a safe tourist destination.
“When he came early this year, he spent little less than $100,000 and we have been trying to lure him back,” Mzembi said during his recent public lecture at Midlands State University.
According to Mzembi, Saadi “spent three weeks in the country hunting”.
