NACZ congratulates Book Café

The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe is pleased to hear that the Book Café, flagship venue of Pamberi Trust, is a Laureate of the 2011 Prince Claus Awards, for its role in “culture and development”. The Prince Claus award is amongst the most prestigious global awards in culture.

The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe Board, Management, Staff and indeed the Arts and culture Fraternity are very glad to know that the Book Café is a laureate of 2011 Prince Claus Awards. The Best will always be recognised and it spreads all around. Pamberi Trust richly deserves this award. NACZ congratulates the Book Café whole-heartedly for the award. NACZ trust the promotion of the arts, in the form of Pamberi Trust is recognized.

Edgar Langeveld who coincidentally achieved his major successes at Book Café has previously won the award in performing arts. However, this is the first time a Zimbabwean arts and culture organization has won such a prestigious award, this affirms the work Book Café has done for the promotion of the development of arts and Culture in Zimbabwe. NACZ hopes it will open up more avenues for Pamberi Trust and the Book Café in particular as they continue working towards serving the arts and culture community.

The assertion through the laureate, of the Book Café as an international arts and culture venue of choice will certainly lend a hand in the marketing of Zimbabwean arts and culture activities globally. By winning the award, the Book Café has also been endorsed as a place that helps the development of skills, particularly relevant to the Zimbabwean arts and culture sector.

This in is also a seal of approval of the quality of the products and artists that perform and participate at Pamberi Trust’s venues. Artists and other stakeholders in the arts sector should thus ride on Pamberi Trust’s open door policy and this achievement to develop international careers.

The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe would also like to extent its congratulations to the Creative Director of Pamberi Trust, Paul Brickhill and a dedicated team of staff; it is through their professionalism and industriousness that the Book Café managed to achieve this feat.

A feat fit to emulate especially when the arts and culture sector is moving towards professionalism. As evidenced by the awarding the Book Café a Laureate, a more professionalized sector will indeed take arts and culture to unlimited heights, economically and socially.
