Super8r cup for central region

ZIFA Central Soccer League Division one teams are set to battle it out in what promises to be a hectic Super8r Cup tournament – the first since the inception of the league last season.

The teams which finished in the top eight of the league last season will compete for the cup.

Patrick Hokonya, the CSL chairman, said a sponsor has been found to bankroll the tournament and everything is set.

“We will announce the sponsor at an opportune time. What I can say is that all is set for the games to kick off. We have conducted the draw and fixtures are now in place,” he said.

Earlier this season, the tournament failed to take place after the sponsor pulled out on the grounds that supreme league championship contenders, FC Platinum, had been barred from taking part by the PSL.

The soccer governors argued that a team from a higher league could not participate in a lower league.
