Woman raped out of revenge

A landlord has been accused of raping the wife of his former tenant as an act of revenge to punish the man from stealing from him.

According to Manicaland police spokesperson, Inspector Leonard Chabata, Philemon Makasi, 35, of Dirikwe Village under Chief Muusha is alleged to have waited for his tenant to leave the house before he approached his wife.

“He then accused the woman’s husband of stealing his bags of cement,” said Chabata. “He then told the woman that he was going to ‘fix’ her husband by raping her. At this point, he then produced a knife from his pocket and threatened to stab her if she raised an alarm.”

The woman reported the matter to her husband on his return and a report was made to the police.

“Makasi is on the run and we are appealing to anyone with any information to the come forward and assist us,” said Chabata.
