Harvey, who inherited the farm from her late parents, had already moved her cattle and some of equipment from the property.
“All that my parents left me has gone. This farm was my only livelihood since I am a single mother and have no relatives in the country. I have no one to protect me,” she said.
Harvey said a notorious Zanu (PF) activist in the area had been giving her sleepless nights for more than a year.
“Since last year Tayali has been sending me text messages threatening to take over my property. The farm was never designated by government for compulsory acquisition since I had given up some of the land my parents left me,” she said.
The Zimbabwean was shown one of the threatening messages which came from an Econet number- 0713662783.
“We want some shares from your business as Zimbabwe empowerment. We want to meet you for signing agreement very soon. Tell your workers to listen to our demands – JJB,” the message reads.
The other message from the same the same Econet number written in broken English reads: “You will sell us some cattle with better price. Keep cattle safe, would want a plan with you”
Another text message says: “Will let you know when we want but very soon. Don’t make mistake my youth are watching”.
Harvey’s farm manager, Rixson Kangwena, on Monday also received threatening text messages from the same Econet number.
“We have reported all these threatening messages to Fort Rixson police station but no action has been taken so far,” she said.
When reached for comment Tayali denied taking over Harvey’s property.
“I was allocated my own farm in 2002 and I have got no business at that farm. That farm to which you are referring was allocated to a certain war veteran and the white lady is leasing that farm from an absent landlord. Anyway why do want to protect white people?” he said.
