Zanu evicted from offices

The Bulawayo city council has evicted Zanu (PF) from its Mpopoma district offices for non-payment of rates.

Zanu (PF) owes the Bulawayo city council more than $5,000 in unpaid rates. According to council sources, the former ruling party has not been paying its rates since 2008.

"The council has already closed down the offices because there are no water suppliers and again the toilets are not functioning. The council will only allow the party to use the offices after paying the entire outstanding amount," said a source at the council.

The party's Zanu (PF) District Co-ordinating Committee chairperson, Christopher Dube, blamed the office closure on party leaders.

"There some party leaders who cannot pay just a dollar to be channelled towards the payment of rates. If this trend persists we are going to name and shame the culprits," said Dube.

He said the DCC was in the process of engaging the provincial leadership to ensure that people made contributions.
