Bosso host Dynamos in battle of the cities

Dynamos hope to bounce back from losing their grip on the championship race after suffering a shock defeat to Masvingo last week. They take on old enemy Highlanders in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie at Barbourfields Stadium this afternoon.

Dynamos captain George Magariro said they had put behind them the disappointment of losing to Masvingo and were now focusing on the remaining five fixtures of the season.

"Of course, it was disappointing to lose to Masvingo. The problem I think is that we underestimated them because we have been on a roll in all our recent matches. But that defeat has actually given us the resolve to do better as we approach the match against Highlanders. We know it will not be easy to play Highlanders at Barbourfields. They are a big institution which enjoys a big support base especially in Bulawayo but we are hungry for a win," said Magariro.

"We still have other tough games against log leaders FC Platinum and Motor Action. There is also Hwange but beating Highlanders will help us approach these games with the right attitude," said Magariro.

Dynamos are in second place on the league table with 45 points from 25 Matches – four adrift of leaders FC Platinum while Highlanders slipped to fifth position after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Shooting Stars.

Highlanders captain Gilbert Banda conceded that their chances of winning the league title were now mathematical.

"It's now difficult to talk about winning the championship now. To be realistic the destiny is no longer in our hands but we will continue to push and see how it ends. We are looking forward to a good game against Dynamos. We failed to win at home against Shooting Stars last week and on Sunday we have to please our fans by winning against Dynamos," he said.
