Comrade Fatso heads to Europe

Comrade Fatso kicked off his one and a half month European tour by headlining the Uppsala International Poetry Festival in Sweden alongside arguably the most popular poet in the world, Saul Williams.

Saul Williams is a hugely celebrated figure in poetry around the world after having played the main role in the 1998 movie ‘Slam’, which brought slam poetry to the mainstream. Since then Saul Williams has toured the world, won multiple awards and recorded with Erykah Badu, the Fugees and the Roots.

Running from the 29th September till the 1st of October the Uppsala International Poetry Festival featured top poets from all over the world including the much travelled Swedish poet and hip hop artist Henry Bowers. Comrade Fatso headlined on Friday 30th October while Saul Williams was the headline act the following night.

Comrade Fatso is one of Zimbabwe’s most pioneering spoken word artists and cultural organizers. He flew from Zimbabwe just days after having organized the successful Shoko Festival, Zimbabwe’s first international poetry and hip hop festival.

From Sweden Fatso has proceeded to Denmark where he teams up with members of his group Chabvondoka aswell as leading Zimbabwe MC Outspoken to tour Denmark for a month where they will be backed by a 14 piece afrobeat band.
