Division One league race hots up

As the Division One league race reaches its climax, a battle has emerged in the Northern Region with Mwana Africa and La Liga sweating it out to win promotion.

Mwana Africa are currently leading the league table with 43 points from 23 matches while La Liga trail on 42 points but have a game in hand after their weekend match against Black Rhinos was abandoned due to crowd trouble at One Commando.

Rhinos were leading 1-0 from Trust Machacha's first half effort before one of their fans walked onto the pitch and attacked La Liga captain Derek Rasai as he prepared to take a corner with 13 minutes remaining.

The referee abandoned the match and Zifa Northern Region fixture secretary Willard Manyengavana said they would sit as a board and decide on the abandoned game.

In the central region Hard Body FC and Tripple B are fighting for pole position on 55 points and 52 points from 24 matches respectively.
