Fierce battle for PSL Golden Boot

A fierce battle for the Premier Soccer League Golden Boot Award has emerged with Dynamos striker Rodrick Mutuma leading the goal scorer's chart.

There are six games left before the league title race comes to an end and Mutuma, who was plucked from the obscurity of lower division side Sporting Manhenga in Chinhoyi, has so far netted 10 goals.

He is however, joint top goalscorer with former CAPS United striker Simba Sithole who has since crossed the border to join South African Premiership giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

Trailing behind the duo is reining Soccer Star of the Year Charles Sibanda, who has scored nine goals for his new club FC Platinum.

Sibanda joined the Premiership Money Bags at the start of the season and an interview with The Zimbabwean this week, the dreadlocked striker revealed he was fighting to win the award.

"It's a tight race," said Sibanda. "There are only six games left and it will be interesting to see who wins the Golden Boot. I will continue to play my normal game. I don't want to put myself under pressure but I am confident I will catch up with the pacesetters,' said Sibanda.

Last season the Golden Boot was won by Norman Maroto while he was still at Gunners. He is now on the books of FC Platinum.
