Motor Action out to cut Blue Ribbon

Reigning Premiership champions Motor Action will be out to cut Blue Ribbon down to size when the two teams clash in the Mbada Diamonds Cup quarter-finals at Torwood this afternoon.

The Mighty Bulls, who won the fourth edition of the BancABC Sup8r by beating Highlanders, also had a good start in their defence of their title. But Joey Antipas' men have been dragged to third position on the league table behind FC Platinum and Dynamos.

The defending champions have not won a match in nearly two months and believe winning today's quarter final clash against Blue Ribbon will put them in good stead to reach the final and win another cup.

"It was a great achievement to win the BancABC Cup," said assistant coach David George." It was a great moment for the team and now the aim is to win the Mbada Cup. Of course results have not been coming our

way in the league but we still have a chance to win the league title and if we manage to win against Blue Ribbon that will be enough motivation for the team," said George.

He added that the Mighty Bulls were aware of the challenge posed by Blue Ribbon who beat them 1-0 recently in a league match.

"Blue Ribbon are a tricky side," said George. "They beat us in a league game recently and we have to roll up our sleeves if we are to win and proceed to the semi-finals.”

The winners between Motor Action and Blue Ribbon will advance to the semi-final against either Zimbabwe Saints or Kiglon.

Sunday Fixtures: Motor Action v Blue Ribbon (Torwood), Dynamos v Shooting Stars (Maglas).
