Plucked from the obscurity of lower division side Sporting Manhenga in Chinhoyi, Mutuma has confounded sporting pundits with his amazing performance.
"I am happy to score a brace against Highlanders. It's not easy when you play against a big team like them. It feels good to know that you are the leading goal scorer in the league. I hope to continue scoring and probably win the Golden Boot Award. I don't want to put myself under pressure but will play my normal game," said Mutuma in an interview this week.
Former CAPS United striker Simba Sithole, who is now on the books of South African Premiership side Mamelodi Sundowns, is second with 10 goals, three months after he left to join the South African club.
Trailing behind the duo is reigning Soccer Star of the Year Charles Sibanda from FC Platinum and CAPS United striker Evans Gwekwerere, who have scored nine goals each.
