PM cancels visit

Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai called off his visit to Marondera last week Saturday as Zanu (PF) had mobilised party thugs to masquerade as residents protesting against poor management of council affairs by MDC-T councillors.

“Tsvangirai was visiting Mashonaland East Province to have first hand information regarding development programmes. He has visited Mudzi and Murewa and was set to visit Marondera town last weekend. He cancelled the Marondera visit as planned Zanu (PF) demonstrations were exposed.

Zanu (PF) council management implemented policies not popular with residents regarding service delivery and blamed the policies on incumbent MDC-T councillors. Water problems in the town were as a result of reluctance by management to implement policies suggested by MDC-T councillors,” said MDC-T Provincial National Representative, Silas Gweshe.

In Marondera, Tsvangirai and his delegation were expected to visit development projects carried out by the local authority and Member of Parliament, Ian Kay, under the Constituency Development Fund Projects. Tsvangirai is expected to visit the town at a later date.
