The American-owned magazine, which classifies itself as the leading source for reliable business news and financial information, listed the veteran Zimbabwean music icon at number 12 out of 40.

The Black Spirits front man is the only Zimbabwean personality to feature on the list. Tuku, as he is affectionately known, is arguably the most popular Zimbabwean musician. Besides releasing over 45 albums and being the United Nations Children Education Fund Goodwill Ambassador for Eastern and Southern Africa, he has won several awards.

The list, which is the first to be compiled, includes famous actors, authors, music artists, producers, fashion models, television celebrities and some athletes, drawn from all over Africa.

Nigerian novelist Chinua Achebe topped the list.
