YEF funds sponsor violence: Mkwananzi

The so-called government youth empowerment funds were used by Zanu (PF) to oil the Chipangano terror machinery at the expense of deserving beneficiaries, the MDC-T Youth Assembly Secretary General, Promise Mkwananzi, has said.

“The fact that no youth from this rally benefitted from the Zanu (PF) Minister Saviour Kasukuwere’s so-called youth empowerment programs, was testimony to the fact that the funds were misused and channelled by Zanu (PF) towards funding Chipangano acts of violence. Chipangano continues to terrorise bona-fide citizens with impunity. Kasukuwere must be stopped now,” said Mkwananzi at a party peace rally here on Sunday.

He took the opportunity to warn the police and Zanu (PF) that as democratic youths, they were prepared to be locked up in their thousands as they supported MDC in the struggle for justice and democracy.

“Dozens of party youths including National Youth Chairperson, Solomon Madzore, are locked up at Chikurubi Prison for supporting MDC. Is it a crime to support MDC? As MDC youths, we are not scared of agents of doom and would rather fill up all available prisons in our pursuit of democracy,” said Mkwananzi.

He urged youths to register to vote and help get rid of the dictatorship in Zimbabwe.

“An MDC-T exclusive government would create much needed jobs for youths,” he said.
